Bratislava: Rabbi and son verbally attacked


rabbi myers.jpgA Rov in Bratislava, Rabbi Baruch Myers and his 12-year-old son were verbally attacked by two people on January 27.  The attack took place downtown in the Slovak capital as the Rabbi and his son were leaving a Shul on Heydukova Street. The two culprits allegedly shouted “Jew! Jews to the gas chambers! Juden raus!”, but did not become violent. Myers said he feared being physically attacked, and hid in a nearby video arcade.

Myers then saw a police patrol and reported the attack. The officers quickly arrested the attackers, who were still standing only a few meters away, and appeared surprised that the rabbi had reported the incident.

A police spokesperson said that the attackers, have been charged with promoting fascism, for which they face up to three years in jail. She added that both men were drunk at the time of the attack.
