According to the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce, the Yom Tov of Tu B’Shvat brings sales of dried fruits in Eretz Yisroel to approximately $47 million. The dried fruit’s market is valued at bringing in some $141 million per year.
During the month of Tu B’shvat which will take place this coming Shabbos, there is a 300 percent rise in dried fruit consumption compared to any average month, and about 34 percent of the annual sale of dried fruits takes place during the Yom Tov.
