Magen David Adom conducted a training simulation last week in which a train collides with a bus in dark conditions as part of its ongoing training to maintain the highest possible standard of response from its EMS personnel. Seventy persons in the Tel Aviv district took part in the training event, treating twenty of their colleagues who were serving as the victims for the purpose of the training exercise.

The event began at 17:30, after dark, at which time personnel take part in the event were briefed in the Tel Aviv Command. At 18:45, EMTs and paramedics in ten ambulance and intensive care ambulances responded to the scene along with ambucycle units, dispatched to the Ganei Yehoshua complex.

As is the case with such training drills, there are different aspects that are being rehearsed including triage, evaluating commanders responsible for overseeing the event, the establishment of a staging area, initial treatment, notification to hospitals and other relevant agencies and transport.
