Egged was to have launched a nationwide strike on Monday morning 6 Cheshvan but Baruch Hashem last minute talks led to agreement on motzei Shabbos. Both sides announced that the planned strike has been averted.
The treasury has agreed to transfer NIS 150 million to Egged to guarantee workers’ salaries in the coming months as a long-term agreement is being drafted.
While routes in many cities have been given over to other bus companies, the Egged cooperative remains the nation’s largest bus company.
