Avraham Betzalel has been appointed to the Jerusalem City Council, replacing Nachanel Saban, who resigned last month. He met with the Jerusalem party leader, Tzvika Cohen, a meeting that was made possible by Chaim Biton, permitting the two meet. The meeting took place before Jerusalem Councilman Michael Michaeli learned he was going to become a Member of Knesset before that meeting occurred.
Michaeli was moved from the local to the national arena, replacing party leader Aryeh Deri who resigned as a MK, continuing to serve as a cabinet member. This cleared the path for Michaeli to move to the Knesset and Saban to the city council.
