According to media reports, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told Syrian President Bashar al-Assad that if Israel launches a regional attack, against Lebanon and/or Syria, Israel should be finished off, wiped off the map.
According to the report, Ahmadinejad spoke with the Syrian leader by phone on Wednesday, stating that if Israel attacks, heavy resistance must be used and the Jewish state should be wiped out once and for all.
Earlier in the week, during an interview with al-Jazeera, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki stated Tehran is not taking Israeli threats seriously, stating Israel today is the weakest she has been in years, adding that nonetheless, Iran remains prepared for any eventuality.
