Worlds oldest person….for two weeks!

Emma Faust Tillman, who became the world’s oldest known living person two weeks ago, died at a nursing home. She was 114. Tillman was born during the administration of President Benjamin Harrison. Her reign as the world’s oldest person was short-lived; she assumed the title Jan. 14 with the death of 115-year-old Emiliano Mercado of Puerto Rico, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

  1. YS765 – I have a good idea: scan the headline and if it doesn’t interest you, don’t read the full story and don’t comment. :o)

  2. LEAVE YW ALONE!!!!

    Such babies!

Since when does he ONLY print yishivish stories?

Many interesting stories should be posted too!

Keep in up YW and just ignore these bored souls.

  3. Nebach-
This poor women lived 114 years in peace and quiet.
Here she dies and everyone is fighting.
    LUZ LEBEN!

If she only knew what would happen… she never would’ve died.

    Just wondering…
Did she ever check out Yeshiva World????????

  4. Absolutely wrong Joe Schmo, if you want world stories there are plenty of sites out there, go to CNN and the BBC. We read Yeshiva World news for the Jewish News.

You make it sound like this posting this on aJewish website is one of the 3 Cardinal Sins! Lighten up, your living in world and its not an issue that is ‘Tomeh’ or unsuitable for Yeshivish or Chasidish interest….

  6. Everything that happens in the world can be and is a lesson and/or benefit to us Yidden, whether we know how/why or not. Longevity, for instance, is dicussed at length in Gemorah, at several occasians. במה הארכת ימים and the discussion that follows.
Maybe this individual did some outstanding good deeds that calls for attention. I don’t know. Does anyone down here? But HaShem cretainly has his reasons for her longevity, for publicizing it, & for doing it at this particular time. As חז”ל say: הכל בשביל ישראל.

  7. YS765- Why post such a silly comment? I found this news to be interesting, non-offensive, and tragedy-free– which is agreeable, all in all. Of course, you have the right to ignore postings you find that don’t fit your yeshivish taste. But then I would imagine that there have been other news items before this on YW that spurred you to simply read and move on. What made this one stick in your craw?

  8. It reinforces our trust that no one will ever live to be older than Moshe Rabbeinu A”H. So it is world news and Yeshiva news all bound together!

  9. TO YS765: U IDYUT
ISN’T THERE A BROUCHA TO MAKE FOR REALLY OLD PEOPLE
IF U R REALLY THIS OFFENDED I ADVISE U TO STOP GOING ONTO YW’S
    SITE

  10. It is of Jewish interest. It is a reminder that no one lives forever, even if he makes it to 114. You still have to do teshuva a day before you die, so don’t be so sure that you won’t die tomorrow.

  11. Getzel- Don’t get soooooo excited.
One of the reasons she actually live so long, was because
    she kept her cool.

    Wishing you Arichas Yomim.
