Outgoing Israeli Ambassador to Israel Shalom Cohen told Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) that despite the treaties existing between Israel and Egypt, there were numerous threats against his life during his tenure.
He added that despite diplomatic relations, the Egyptian media remains hostile to the Israeli diplomatic entourage and state officials in Israel must act to compel a change.
In an incident which confirms the ambassador’s harsh allegations against the Egyptian media, the Egyptian journalist’s union suspended the credentials of the editor or October Magazine for visiting Israel. The Egyptian media reports that the credentials of Hussein Serag were suspended for three months in response to his visit to Israel. He told the media he has been in Israel over 25 times but the journalist union forbids visiting the Jewish state.
Another Egyptian editor was targeted with a warning from the union. Hala Mustafa’s crime was receiving the Israeli ambassador in her home. She denounced the union’s warning, which she insists violates freedom of the press, all over meeting with Ambassador Cohen in her home.
Apparently, after Mustafa told union officials she was unaware of the ban, they decided to permit her to slide with a warning instead of a suspension.

Can someone explain to me the rationale by Israel have “normal” relations with Egypt? The anti-semitism is atrocious and I don’t see the value of the Israelis to deal with Egypt anymore.
