Another Charter Flight Incident: JFK To Israel For Sukkos Just Cancelled

planeFollowing yesterdays abrupt cancellation of a charter flight to Uman for Rosh Hashanah which left hundreds without a way to get there, YWN has received word of yet another cancellation of a charter flight.

This flight was scheduled to fly to Eretz Yisroel on Motzei Yom Kippur, and was a 747. According to a travel agency that sold some of these seats, the plane was just about booked – with tickets going for as much as $2000 just yesterday.

The reason for this cancellation is unknown, but the travel agency has just notified their customers via email which follows below:

To Our Dear Clients,

At our company (name removed by YWN), our core values consist of providing our community with detail oriented service, coupled with knowledge, expertise, and dedication that you and your family deserve.

Sukkot is the time of year that families celebrate in harmony. With this in mind, we had arranged a charter to Israel for this coming Sukkot, so that our clients can enjoy their Chag in Eretz Yisroel.

It is with tremendous regret that we notify you, our valued clients, that at this time we found it necessary to suspend this flight. This was based on yesterday’s unfortunate experience with the Breslov Vaad-chartered Rosh Hashanah flight that was canceled a few hours prior to its scheduled take off time.

As we all know too well, flight cancellations cause tremendous aggravation and run the risk of disrupting Yom Tov plans. By choosing to suspend the Sukkot flight today, we intended to prevent a potential last minute cancellation, thereby allowing passengers sufficient time to make alternate arrangements for the Yom Tov.

All credit card transactions will automatically be fully refunded. It may take up to ten days for the refund to appear on your statement. We ask you kindly; please do not reject charges, as this will incur additional fees. Refund checks will be issued and mailed out for tickets that were paid in other forms of payment.

We would like to extend our deepest apologies for the inconvenience.

May we all merit a healthy, successful, and prosperous year.

  1. To comment 1:
No. These 2 stories of these cancellations with no alternative options for the hundreds of travelers, shows that there is a major cover up going on over here. I really hope they arrange a class action lawsuit and sue the pants off of these crooks.

  2. Musser- Not a big deal? Are you kidding me? I was supposed to be on that flight. I was looking forward to going to Erez Yisroel for Sukkos- for weeks! I work full time and this flight time was the one that worked perfect! I made hotel & eating arrangements for my wife and I….. Are you aware that flights leaving at similar times( if you find any at all ) are now over $3,000 per person instead of the $1,000 I paid for this flight. I am now forced to cancel my Sukkos plans- I have not yet broken the news to my wife who will be extremely anguished. I am in a state beyond words at this time and feel extremely let down. I spent so many hours planning and booked several tours already ( which I will not get my money back for) I have absolutely no Sukkos plans at this time and will not be able to afford anything special for Sukkos now…. If that is not a disaster than what is??

  3. 6: You can’t afford to stay home for sukkos like most yidden? You could afford to go to EY, but now you “will not be able to afford anything special for Sukkos?” Come on.

  4. Vosiz…I feel terrible for you. I know many people staying home because they have children in the hospital for Tom tov.I really don’t think that you will such a rachmunes

  5. Vosiz I feel really bad to hear your story and you are not the only one. However just imagine what whould have happened if the flight whould got cancelled a few hr. Before take off like the flight to uman. Total disaster!!! Thank hashem you have at least some time to prepare alt.

  6. Rebyossel: that was a very inconsiderate comment. This mans whole trip was suddenly ruined and you can care less for another Jew . Shame on you.

  7. vosiz- “If this is not a disaster than what is??”

I’ll tell you what is: terminal illness, death, terror attacks, and all sorts of other horific things. Not your ruined vacation.

Nan- yes, we feel for vosiz. But his last sentence was just insensitive.
