Addressing the Herzliya Conference, Minister of Economic Development Silvan Shalom stated economic realities are working in Israel’s favor, boasting over 10% annual growth in PA (Palestinian Authority) areas throughout Yehuda and Shomron. He added that unfortunately, while Israel continues to advance economic advances with the PA, the other side is not as serious as Israel, and “hesitates” to enter into economic negotiations. “We have proven that we are serious, and we would like to see the other side exhibit the same level of concern”.

In her response, opposition leader Tzipi Livni stated the key here is dialogue, stating that until the current administration realizes the heavy price that will result due to the absence of dialogue, there can be no advance. She warned that giving up on the two-state concept will not result in a bi-national state, but a new Arab nation, and “I am uncertain regarding the future of the Jews in such a state” she concluded.
