Déjà Vu From NYC to Israel – Cop Car Stolen in Lod

Two Lod district police found themselves in a situation similar to a NYC highway cop earlier in the week, realizing their police car was stolen from under their noses.

In this case however, they did not abandon the vehicle, but left it under the watchful eye of an female IDF soldier serving her compulsory military service assigned to Israel Police. It appears she was not watching the police vehicle as closely as she should have, permitting the 28-year-old male to make off with the car.

The policemen were escorting a suspect in the police station when the car theft took place. The thief approached the car, asking the soldier seated in the rear if she wishes to accompany him to Jerusalem. As she got out of the vehicle, perhaps to respond, he jumped in and took off.

To his misfortune, police vehicles are equipped with GPS tracking devices in 20 minutes later; the vehicle was apprehended along with the driver near the Carmiel station.

In another embarrassing moment for police, on Sunday, a 34-year-old male who was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a family member received a ride home from a policewoman after being released. The man happily accepted the service, using the opportunity to lift the policewoman’s wallet in the process.

  1. i always hope the perpetrators get away for some reason, especially when it deals with cops. cops should just let people go all the time and be nice to them.

  2. From Lod to Carmiel in 20 minutes?

Are you sure it was a car, and not a helicopter?!

    That’s 113 km / 70 miles in a straight line…. in 20 minutes.

I want such a police car as well!
