Brooklyn – Councilman Simcha Felder (D-Brooklyn) will resign and assume his new post as Deputy Comptroller for Accounting and Budget on February 1st, but City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn has pledged to keep the district office open until the special election to choose the next Council Member is held.
“I am both honored and humbled to have served as Councilman for the 44th Council District for the past eight years. Until the next Council Member is elected, I am grateful Speaker Quinn has decided to keep my office open so that it can continue offering the same exceptional services to the community,” said Councilman Felder.
“The City Council will never be the same without Simcha Felder. Although he is leaving, we will make sure the community continues to get the service it deserves,” said Speaker Quinn.
The district office for the 44th Council District is located at 4424 16th Avenue in the Boro Park section of Brooklyn and can be reached at 718-853-2704. It will remain open from 9:30am to 4:30pm from Monday to Thursday.
