Efforts to persuade someone to run against Naftali Bennett for the leadership of the Bayit Yehudi party continue as there is a significant camp of persons in the party who are less than satisfied with the current leader. According to the dati leumi Srugim website, outgoing IDF Chief Rabbi Brigadier-General Rafi Peretz was asked to take on the challenge, but he turned it down, stating he has absolutely no plans to enter the political arena.
Without mentioning a name, Srugim is now reporting there is another candidate, one who is viewed as a Torani education who also served as an officer in the IDF and one who is “well connected to the youth”.
In a related matter, the party’s recent registration campaign has yielded results as Bayit Yehudi now numbers 70,000 registered members nationwide.
