Defense Minister Ehud Barak met on Wednesday morning with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Egypt. It should be pointed out that Israeli leaders never meet with Mubarak in Israel, since he refuses to come to Israel.
The meeting will focus on ongoing efforts to jumpstart the diplomatic process with the PA (Palestinian Authority) following the departure earlier in the week of US special envoy George Mitchell, who once again left empty-handed, unsuccessful in his effort to obtain a PA commitment to resume talks.
Barak and Mubarak will also discuss ongoing efforts to negotiate a deal to obtain the release of Gilad Shalit.
