In response to recent incidents in the area of the tziyun of Reb Nachman ZT”L, the Shomrim has launched a branch in Uman.

A number of urgent meetings were held, attended by askanim and the rav of the kehilla, Rabbi Yaakov Jon Shlita and it was decided to establish a branch of the Shomrim as the feeling is local police are not doing as much as is necessary to maintain order in the area.

Shomrim will patrol the area as well to prevent anti-Semitic attacks by locals against visitors to the tziyun. These patrols will be around-the-clock, manned by volunteers, in the hope of preventing assaults, break-ins and thefts and vandalism.

A telephone number will be advertised as well to permit persons in the area to report incidents or request assistance.
