Egged on Sunday morning announced it was adding buses to compensate for the Israel Railways strike on the Haifa – Tel Aviv line. The strike on this major line, on a Sunday morning, resulted in thousands of IDF soldiers trying to figure out a way to get back to their base.
Shortly after 10:00AM on Sunday, Egged spokesman Ron Ratner released a statement to the media that not a single soldier was left waiting for a bus anywhere in Israel, boasting that Egged was notified and implemented a contingency plan to assist soldiers and civilians alike during the Sunday morning rush hour. Ratner stated 140 buses were placed into service in total with 70 on the Tel Aviv-Haifa line, reporting a 600% increase in ridership on that line Sunday morning.
