IDF Disputes Islamic Jihad’s Kidnap Claim

The al-Quds unit of the Islamic Jihad published statements that it almost succeeded in abducting an IDF soldier in Gaza but the effort failed due to last week’s heavy rains and area flooding. The IDF Spokesman’s Office denies the accuracy of the report.

The al-Quds statement read that an Israeli paratrooper mistakenly found himself inside Hamas-controlled Gaza but they were unable to take him prisoner due to the flooding. They reported high winds pulled the soldier’s parachute to the al-Bureij refugee camp. The terrorists add they have video documentation, which will be released at the appropriate time.

IDF officials report there was no such incident, adding the report lacks logic since the military would not be conducting parachute exercises in the heart of a major winter storm. In addition, most parachute exercises are conducted far from the Gaza border, the statement read.
