Former IAF commander Major-General (reserves) Eliezer Shkedy visited Maran Rav Chaim Kanievsky upon assuming his new position, director-general of El Al.

Rav Kanievsky stated that by the merit of shmiras shabbos and kashrus, passengers will enjoy a double dose of siyata d’shmaiya flying El Al. Ladaat reports.

During the 20-minute meeting, Maran explained that all Jews, especially the frum community, should prefer El Al because of the kashrus and shmiras shabbos, and this is an advantage as mentioned above.

Shkedy detailed some of the advantages of El Al, as an Israeli company, adding there are many airlines in the world but only El Al is Jewish and exhibits pride over the fact that is the Jewish People’s airline, adding he expects Jews to prefer El Al when traveling.

It was clear the Rav stressed the matter of adherence to shabbos and kashrus, for as the meeting ended the Rav repeated his words, emphasizing that shmiras shabbos and kashrus will bring the double bracha. A number of senior company officials accompanied the new director-general to the Rav’s home.
