Kadima Party’s number two man, MK Shaul Mofaz, is telling close associates that if primary elections are not held by the summer, he and six others in the party will break away and launch a new party. Mofaz is seeking to move ahead primary elections, confident he can unseat the incumbent, Tzipi Livni.
Livni is seeking to expand here waning powerbase, reportedly holding negotiations with former IDF Chief of Staff, Lt.-General Dan Halutz, who was compelled to step down after his dismal performance during the Second Lebanon War.
