Representatives of Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Jewry have been invited to the President’s Residence this week for a pre-Tisha B’Av event called ‘זכרה ירושלים’. It appears President Rivlin wishes to set a new precedent as Rabbi Prof. Dalia Marx, affiliated with the Reform Movement and Hebrew Union College, will give the pre-Tisha B’Av limud. Prof. Marx serves as an associate professor of liturgy and midrash at the Hebrew Union College.
The Reform Movement has praised the decision by President Rivlin, stating “The President of Israel is displaying leadership and responsibility by including all streams of Judaism in the learning that will take place in the President’s Residence”.
The statement adds “This is especially important his year during which the Reform Movement has been exposed to difficult incitement from extremist circles along with being excluded from f spiritual and Jewish institutions in the State of Israel and holy places”.

Like his predecessor, Rivlin abuses the office of the President as a pulpit to further his private agenda.
Strange, since Rivlin has compared Reform to avodah zarah in the past.
I dont understand the problem, she looks like a man
Lol! You know litzanos is frowned upon at all times but especially during the 9 days. I couldn’t stop laughing reading how this reform Rabbah will teach us the “Pre Tisha be’Av limud”. What exactly will she be teaching us? That its ok to completely deny the validity of the Torah? That Hashem agrees with them that תריג מצוות no longer apply?
Please YWN no more laughter until next Monday.
What’s Rivlin’s email address, he should be swamped with protest letters.

Rivlin does not hold of reform, but has in recent years fallen for the falicy that as some of them support the state of Israeli (albeit financially, rarely in lobbying) , that we suck up to them.
The only meeting of them that he should countenance is in interfaith events along with Christians and Muslims. Though many of them may be racially Jewish, Rivlin himself knew clearly in the past that they are not part of Judaism.
While Rivlin may no no better, “Rabbis” like Binyomin Lau should know much, much better than to stand alongside reform.
A recent factual poll put the Charedi population as constituting the largest demographics due to childbrith rates by 2050.
Assuming that we have a strong spiritual leader, then this means we have the final word. The $$$ used to bribe Israeli MK’s by the Reform and Conservative, will be useless.
As much as i love every Jew, it’s a mitzvah to hate reform and conservative leaders( who are spiritual terrorists). However, we cannot hate their adherents. Their followers have been sold a faulty product.
The way we can detroy deform and conservative movements, is by doing kiruv. Institutes such as Aish. Ohr samach, and Chabad have helped rehab former reformers. Check out project inspire and BJX to see how to save these poor captives.
A Third of population of Israel will be charedi, and they help bring 1-2 Jews back to yiddishkeit, that means that 70-90% of the country will be frum.
AFAIR, Rav Moshe paskened that Orthodox Rabbonim should NOT participate in mixed events with Conservative/Reform clergy. By doing so, it gives legitimacy to the Cons/Reform, as if to say: the clergy of the 3 official, equal, streams of Judaism were at the event.
This is exactly what Rivlin is doing. If the Cons/Reform cannot get legitimacy from the government, then Rivlin does it this way (thru the back door).
I hope that no Orthodox Rav will participate.
I don’t see why anyone is getting bent out of shape about this. Enough said.
Re comment 9 by kvetcher: Your screen name is, in this case, a misnomer.
Commenter no. 3: Could you cite the halachic authority by which you publicly insult the appearance of a Jewish woman? I don’t think you can.
Lol she probably knows how to learn a lot better then all you office chair people.
Rivlin should be impeached for his total lack of Kovod Hatorah.
Reform is not Judaism.
Request to YWN:: In future, please leave out the title ‘rabbi’As you and I know, she is a rabbi like I’m a rabbi! ‘Professor’ alone will suffice. Thanks.
This is disgraceful.Reform has decimated American Jewry with it’s leftist ideology with some Jewish symbols thrown in confusing Jews about what Torah and Judaism is about ,promoting “pluralism” instead of Judaism.Rivlin is making a big mistake–diversity YES ,pluralism -NO!
To #12 There were also may priests in the times of the rishonim who were very learned. I recently was doing some research on line, there are many missionary sites that if not for some key words they use you would think some Talmud chochum was writing the blog. The bottom line is they don’t believe in Torah min hashamayim. To recognize them is giving credence to their movement.

To #17 what does chochma bagoyim tamin have to do with the reform movement making a mockery of the torah. These people look at the torah as a story book, no different then non jews who refer to the stories in the Torah as bible stories.
