Bituach Leumi Preparing to Address the Hearing Impaired


Bituach Leumi (National Insurance Institute) has made the decision to take the necessary step to provide an atmosphere conducive to addressing citizens with hearing impairments and those who are profoundly deaf. Bituach Leumi Director-General Esther Domenicini has given the order, to create 200 stations in 30 nationwide branches to accommodate the hearing impaired. Domenicini wants the new stations operational within six months.

It is noteworthy to mention that 1 in 10 Israelis is diagnosed with a hearing impairment, about 700,000 people, in many cases the result of hearing loss due to old age.

Special adjuncts will be deployed to assist the hard of hearing in the areas slotted to address the special needs population.
