The New York City Medical Examiner’s office says ongoing retesting of remains found in and around the World Trade Center site has confirmed the identities of two female victims.
Their names have not been released at the request of their families.
One sample was part of a group of remains just found within the last few years.
Newer DNA technology developed in 2006 led to the other positive ID.
A total of 25 victims have been identified with the technology and the city continues to retest thousands of remains.
More than 1,100 of the 2,750 victims have not been identified because many of the remains found were too badly compromised by heat and the passage of time.
