The German mediator seeking to negotiate a prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas for the release of Gilad Shalit in exchange of over 1,000 terrorists traveled to Gaza on Tuesday for Hamas’ official response.

Hamas leaders during recent days have in essence provided its response, stating “Israel is to blame for delays”, stating as a deal is about to be closed, Israel adopts a new position, “taking one step forward and three steps backward”.

Hamas officials insist a deal could have been closed but due to Israel’s “zigzagging” this has not occurred, insisting Hamas will not yield or compromise, and Israel must come to terms with the realities that exist, the need to release the names appearing on Hamas’ list in exchange for Gilad Shalit.
