Monticello: Haz-Mat Incident At Leisure Time Water


mfd.jpg10:45AM EST: Emergency services are currently on the scene at the Leisure Time Water headquarters on Route 42 at the foot of Kiamesha Lake, (across from Munkatch Summer Camp).

According to First Responder Wireless News, there is large amount of acid leaking into the storm drains. Monticello FD has requested a HazMat Team to respond from Orange County. Numerous units are on scene, and additional are still being requested to respond. Route 42 has been closed as well.

Further details will be posted as soon as they are available.

Leisure Time was in the news in March of this year, as they almost collapsed due to bankruptcy. A last-minute deal reached in U.S. Bankruptcy Court averted the closure of the company. According to the deal, the assets of Leisure Time Spring Water were sold to a Canadian company that promised to preserve most of the company’s 50 jobs.
