12:50PM IL: An Israel Police officer on early Sunday afternoon 4 Tammuz, fired at a man in his 60s wielding a knife near Paz Park in Kiryat Gat.

Police were responding to a call of a man armed with a knife in a park.

When police arrived on the scene they instructed the man to drop the weapon.

He failed to comply and began heading towards one of the officers who fired at his lower extremities.

He was wounded light-to-moderately in a leg.

Police add the man with the knife is a resident of the city and is known to them. He is a mentally unstable individual.

United Hatzalah reports the wounded man was conscious and alert when EMTs arrived on the scene.
