A senior law enforcement official is quoted anonymously in the Israeli media saying suspected money laundering by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and members of his family has resulted in gathering sufficient evidence to go public. Both Channel 10 and Channel 2 News reported on the alleged money laundering case.
It is alleged that a fictitious company was sold by Netanyahu and after consulting with the Attorney General’s Office, they feel the time has come to go public with the case. An official announcement is expected later this week or next week.
It appears a small team of police investigators are involved in the case, and they have prevented media leaks to date.
According to the Channel 2 report, the case involved a member of the Netanyahu family receiving a large sum of money. Chanel 10 reported on Friday that former PM’s Bureau Chief of Staff Ari Harow is involved in the case, which seems to address money received by Mr. Netanyahu after taking office again in 2009.
