Mrs. Chavah [Rochel bas Ayelet HaShachar] Mark, who survived the Erev Shabbos shooting attack near Otniel that claimed her husband’s life, continues to recuperate in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.
When Mrs. Mark regained consciousness a number of days after the attack, she had not yet realized her husband, Rav Miki HY”D had been killed in the attack. In fact, she opened her eyes as the levaya which was traveling from Otniel on Sunday afternoon 27 Sivan arrived in Yerushalayim, heading for Har Menuchos for kvura.
The family decided a social worker or doctor would not tell their mother the heartbreaking news, but her children arrived at the hospital to inform her of the tragedy that had befallen them all.
One daughter, Orit, wrote “We are seeing miracles. Mother is speaking, kissing and holding a hand, all in the merit of your tefilos and my father – there was a turnaround in Shomayim”.
She continues “You haven’t a clue how happy we are you gathered and gave such kovod to my father, a tzaddik. Just how he was proud to see you are my friends…Abba was a big person, one not to miss. I don’t want to break or go into depression. This is what my father would have wanted”.
Friends of Rav Miki Mark HY”D explain in recent years, Miki worked as little as possible, devoting all his other time to limud Torah, building Eretz Yisrael and his family. During recent statements made by the mora d’asra of Yishuv Otniel, HaGaon HaRav Re’em HaKohen Shlita, the rav credited Miki’s efforts with the successful completion of their beis medrash building, which he undertook during his lifetime.
