In an interview to Galei Yisrael Radio, MK (Bayit Yehudi) Betzalel Smotrich announced “I feel a heavy responsibility on my shoulders as I am a member of this government. I am truly uncertain if we can permit ourselves to remain in this coalition”.
Smotrich was talking about recent events, the fatal Palestinian terror attacks. He added “If my insight is accurate, that the government cannot eradicate terrorism, not due to technical failures but because someone is not professional enough. Not because a certain Defense Minister does not think of a good idea but because the very foundation and every concept which takes place in this government is such that it simply encourages terror and inflames it. So I am really not sure if we have the right to remain here in this government, even though we do a great deal of good”.

Does he really believe that a coalition comprised of only leftists can eradicate terrorism? On the other hand a coalition of real rightists (not like the current Likud which is more left than right) can perhaps do a better job in eradicating terrorism. That is, if they get the approval from the leftists pro Arab High Court the supreme power uber alles. In short, the situation in Israel will not change if the High Court doesn’t.
