Israelis View Foreign Media As ‘Anti-Semitic’

jude2.jpgNearly three-quarters of Israelis view the foreign media as being negative towards Israel, according to a recent poll revealed by Professor Avraham Tzion of Ariel University Center, located in the West Bank.

Speaking at the annual conference on media and communications held there, he said the survey also showed that 88 percent of the respondents cited anti-Semitism as the main reason for Israel’s negative image.

The Palestinian Authority’s information campaign and poor public relations by the Israeli government were close behind as reasons for the bad image (according to other polls, problems in Israel’s advocacy strategy derives mainly from the lack of skills on behalf of Israeli diplomats).

The poll of 500 Jews from all sectors of society also revealed that about two-thirds view foreign reports in Judea and Samaria as being unfair and unreasonable.

Left-wing groups, such as Peace Now and B’Tselem, were viewed as contributing to Israel’s negative image by 64 percent of the respondents, while residents of Judea and Samaria (“settlers”) and nationalists, known as the “right wing,” were blamed by 58 percent.

US President Barack Obama ranked relatively low as being a cause of the negative impression, with half of the respondents blaming him.

A breakdown of the statistics disclosed that anti-Semitism was cited more often as the main reason for Israel’s image problem among female respondents and people under the age of 35.

Respondents who defined themselves as on the right side of the political spectrum were inclined to point the finger left-wing groups and President Obama, besides anti-Semitism.

Those on the left end of the spectrum blamed the government’s information campaign and “settlers” as the main negative influences.

One surprising result of the poll was that 18 percent of Israelis are not aware of the legal standing of Judea ans Samaria.

  1. Yes, indeed, the foreign media is, to a very large degree anti-semitic.
And… to a large degree the ISRAELI media is anti-semitic as well.

  2. Aaron Klein, BUreau Chief of World Net Daily in Israel, and a YU graduate, says that there is more Anti-Semitism among the secular class in Israel than among the nations of Europe.

  3. Of course it is, and in part it is due to Israels’ actions. Listen, the rest of the world does not have a vested interest in Israel. Upon hearing Israel is giving land, releasing palestinian prisoners, freezing settlements..etc., onlookers would logically assume Israel DID do something wrong and is making feeble attempts to make up for it.

  4. deepthinker, I don’t know where Aaron Klein gets his information from but I didn’t see any Israelis marching against the Israeli incursion in Gaza but I did see leftists goyishe politicians march in protest and call it an intifada in Holland.

    DEAR BUBBY:

You are making a very common error. You are mixing up anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism.

Secular Israelis support army operations, while they demonize and abuse Hareidi Jews.

Aaron Klein is a Modern Orthodox YU graduate, and he can’t stand the hatred displayed by rabid secularists in the media, in the court system, and in Government toward Hareidi Jews.–That’s real anti-Semitism.

  6. There was a lengthy discussion in the Jewish Observer, of blessed memory, and the Yated Ne’eman how the secular media and the pro-Palestinians express themselves in terms of anti-Zionism and anti-Zionists when they mean anti-Jew. I know where I get my information from.

Some secular Israelis don’t support army operations and are from the Peace Now movement. I don’t think they like Chareidim.

Don’t get me started on Aaron Klein. This website is not a place for me to get into a discussion with anyone over what I think about what he reports on World Net Daily. I don’t think this is the forum for such a discussion.

I know many fine people rely on Aaron Klein’s reporting, opinions, and on the information that is reported on World Net Daily. I just have my own personal opinion and that is that.
