Paterson Hires Obama-Trasher To Dig Dirt On Cuomo

patn.jpgThe following are excerpts from a NY Post exclusive:

Gov. Paterson has hired the man who was responsible for “negative research” on then-presidential candidate Barack Obama to dig up dirt on Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who is preparing to run for governor.

Paterson’s campaign committee signed Maryland-based Judd Legum, research director for then-Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s bitterly fought presidential primary campaign against Obama in 2008, to a five-week contract earlier this month, with the understanding that he would “prepare a research book on Cuomo” and other potential candidates for governor, said a prominent Democratic Party activist.

Legum, a friend of Paterson campaign spokeswoman and strategist Tracy Sefl, is being paid about $25,000 for the project, it was learned.

Legum confirmed that he had been hired by Paterson’s campaign but, when asked to describe his job, insisted, “I really can’t talk about that now,” and hung up the phone.

Earlier this fall, Obama infuriated Paterson when he signaled that he wanted Cuomo to be the Democrats’ gubernatorial standard bearer next year. Paterson, however, has insisted he won’t get out of the race.

  1. Dirt on Cuomo can be uncovered if Legum investigates the real reason why Mario Cuomo was forced to remove his name from consideration as a US Supreme Court Justice nominee by President Clinton in 1993 and Andrew Cuomo’s own role in hiding the real reason. Governor Mario Cuomo did not act upon his earlier knowledge that the NY Attorneys General’s office under Robert Abrams was using State funds to bribe attorneys and judges in lawsuits defended by the OAG and was forced to remove his name within days after the US Senate Commission on the Judiciary was informed of Cuomo’s knowledge and failure to act.
Both Abrams and then NYS Comptroller Ed Regan resigned their respective offices in 1993 before the completion of their terms because of this scandal. Because Andrew Cuomo needs to protect his father’s reputation he has not moved to set aside those verdicts reached through fraud upon the Court as required by law.
