Mrs. Elisheva Federman and her ten children, along with Michael Pollack, have filed a damages claims suit against the state, seeking NIS 432,339 in damages for the destruction of the family farm 14 months ago, in October 2008. Police and security forces moved in, entering the Federman home in the Chevron area during the night, without any advanced warning, arresting family members and ousting them from the area, not permitting them to return until the home was destroyed, along with all the family’s belongings.
Jerusalem District Court Justice Moshe Drori blasted security officials for acting in the fashion in which they did, rejecting a police request to continue banning Noam Federman, Elisheva’s husband from the site, calling the actions of the state unjustifiable. Pollack is also involved in the suit since his vehicle, which was parked on location, was ruined as result of the indiscriminate damage caused by security forces.
According to the suit filed against the police and military, Mrs. Federman is seeking compensatory damages for the family’s belongings that were destroyed, along with punitive damages for the pain and suffering for the physical and psychological damage sustained by her and her children.
