Knesset Debate Regarding Plans to Demolish Home of R’ Aryeh Levine ZATZAL

The Jerusalem Planning Board has decided to demolish the home of HaRav Aryeh Levine, a planned move met with a fair amount of protest. As a result, the matter was brought to Knesset, last week, where lawmakers debated the matter. Among those opposed to demolishing the house are Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin and Prof. Aryeh Eldad, explaining Rav Aryeh was the sandek at his bris.

Many spoke out in defense of preserving the modest home of the Jerusalem Tzaddik, with lawmakers seeking to reverse the decision explaining “Rav Aryeh was the rabbi of all prisoners and he was accepted by all, Ashkenazim, Sephardim, Chassidim, Litvaks and the secular as well,” explaining his home is a monument to his special life and his attributes and as such, the Jerusalem Municipality should not tear it down.

  1. What a tragedy that the home of this great Tzadik is to be torn down. It should be made into a museum or perhaps a Beit Knesset as its very walls are imbued with the Holiness of this great Rav.
