Philanthropist Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz is in the process of bringing 25 avreichim and their families from Eretz Yisrael to Los Angeles to give a chizuk to his community. According to the Bechadrei report, Rechnitz has his people already hand-picking the premier avreichim who are willing to relocate to LA to be a part of the community and give shiurim and become involved in other activities towards being mechazeik the tzibur in LA.
According to the report, each avreich will receive $50,000 annually in addition to Rechnitz paying for their homes and yeshiva tuition for the children. The report states that a number of the top avreichim in Mir have already been selected for the opportunity.

I suspect the dollar levels of support and several other items are not accurately characterized although there is no doubt that Rechnitz is a big baal tzadakah. The bigger question is that given the location of several premier yeshivos in Southern California, why he deems it necessary to “import” a bunch of kollel yungerleit from EY to “mechazeik the tzibur”. It sounds like Trump whining “make America great again”. LA has an outstanding set of yeshivos, rabbunim and avreichim whose acomplishments are discredited by the way this article is worded.
So tell us…what are the facts?

This whole article is inaccurate. Yes, Rechnitz is a major supporter of this new kollel beginning in LA- my brother is one of the yungeleit moving- but the amount of avreichim is wrong, the places they are coming from are wrong, their reported “mission” is wrong, and the support they will receive is wrong. Actually, the only accurate piece of information in the whole article is that their is a new kollel forming in LA and it’s being backed by Rechnitz.
