The date of 10 Nissan was selected as Israel’s new national holiday, Aliyah Day, marking the contribution made to Israeli society by immigrants from around the world. The date was selected because it is believed to be the day Yehoshua led Bnei Yisrael ‘Ever L’Yarden’, across the Jordan River into Eretz Yisrael. The vote took place in the Knesset plenum on Tuesday, 15 Sivan bringing the bill initiated by MK (Likud) Miki Zohar into law.
Lawmakers are however well-aware that they are in recess on 10 Nissan. Therefore, it has already been stipulated the day will be marked on 7 Cheshvan.

“is believed to be” is not a phrase that a frum site should use if the fact can be verified by looking up the posuk in sefer Yehoshua
Chas V Shalom Another Zionists Holiday?
Don’t worry about another zionist holiday. You can say Hallel on this one the same way Bibi Netanyahu says it for the other ones …..
Israel needs another secular holiday.
A “made up” holiday timed for when people want a day off from work to clean for Pesach. One assumes part of the celebration will be consumption of perishable hametz.
“the day will be marked on 7 CHeshvan”
TRANSLATE please! – does that mean this is the date and not 10 Nisan? If 10 Nisan remains the date: what does “marked’ mean?
If I remember correctly, the lashon is, “alu min haYarden.” If they want a sunny day, 7 Cheshvan might be the worst day to pick (v’hameivin yavin)….
