Beit Shemesh Mayor Instructed Once Again To Remove Modesty Signs

1The Jerusalem District Court has instructed Beit Shemesh Mayor Moshe Abutbul to remove the signs that demand tznius attire and that men and women remain on different sidewalks. Women opposed to the signs began their battle a number of years ago and while some have received compensation from Beit Shemesh City Hall, the signs were never removed as the courts have ordered. Abutbul has maintained the city is opposed to the signs but private individuals have put them in place and the city cannot enforce the ban.

In the court’s latest ruling, the Beit Shemesh mayor was given a three-week deadline for the removal of the signs, as well as to take action against offenders.

Back by the Reform-affiliated Religious Action Center, the women took their case to court.

  1. If they’re on private property what right does anyone have to remove them? The reform movement’s continued harassment of religious observance is appalling!

  2. A suggestion for future signs:

In the name of the women of this neighborhood, we ask our sisters passing through this area not to dress or act in ways that will divert our husbands’ attention from us their wives, and we bless you to receive devoted attention from your husbands, or to find devoted husbands for those of you who have not yet done so.

  3. If the signs were on private property, that would still be offensive but not illegal. The issue the court is addressing here are multiple signs that are posted on PUBLIC rights-of-way, streets, public buildings, utility poles, etc. The court has repeatedly told the city to remove those signs and to arrest anyone attempting to post such illegal signs should be prosecuted. Abutbul should be held in contempt of court if he continues to ignore the Court’s directive. If these signs C’V contained language offensive so some of the ehrlich rabbunim of Beis Shemesh, I can assure you they would be torn down in an instant and would stay down.

  4. Reguarding the Reform, Conservative, Zionists, Helenistics etc….

Suppose a man broke into another man’s home. Tied the man of the house up, threw him in the closet. Spent all his money, takes his idenity and racked up all his credit cards and then had the chutzpah to open the closet and un-tie the man of the house and asks him to help pay the bill. Well, that’s what the conservative, reform and zionist movements are doing to real Tora Jews. May HaShem put an end to Conservative, Reform Judaism and Zionism speedily and in our days
