In the state’s response to a Peace Now petition to the High Court of Justice demanding the immediate implementation of six demolition orders in unauthorized outposts, the state maintains that now, due to the building freeze, the state is halting outpost destructions, explaining the government cannot cease construction and simultaneously destroy homes.

The court was told that the Defense Ministry and the Prime Minister’s Office are probing the current situation regarding the impact of the construction freeze and the ramifications of implementing demolition orders as well. The state requested a minimum six-month extension regarding its responsibility to remove the six outposts in question.

Peace Now rejects the legitimacy of such a claim, accusing the government of hiding behind a so-called total building freeze to avoid carrying out its responsibility regarding unauthorized outposts.
