Magen David Adom volunteers took part in a four-day campaign in the Israeli Arab municipality of Baka el-Garbiya, collecting food products for the needy for distribution during Ramadan. As a result of the efforts of volunteers and MDA employees, food items were collected to assist the needy in the Israeli Arab sector to facilitate their taking part in holiday evening meals.
Volunteers manned four supermarkets and asked shoppers to buy a few extra items to donate to the needy as they do during the campaign ahead of Pesach in Jewish areas. They collected enough for over 500 cartons to be distributed to the needy.
Store owners came to the local MDA station and contributed a great deal to see to it that the needy are taken care of. MDA reports one businessman donated enough to assist forty families while another put NIS 20,000 on account in one supermarket, instructing them to send the needy there to buy on his account.
MDA Chief of Operations praised his volunteers and employees for the successful operation that will permit additional families to observe the holiday in a respectful fashion.

#1: To Yaapchik: They eat at night. They don’t fast a month straight without eating. If they did, they would all die, saving the world from a lot of trouble.
Beautiful this is the way to harmonious living between all people’s in Israel.
