A request filed by the local planning committee against the Yavniel Local Municipality has resulted in a court order preventing kvura in Yavniel. Yavniel Religious Council officials explain the court order prohibits them from burying anyone in the local cemetery.
It appears the land is question has been zoned for agriculture. Religious Council attorney Eyal Yinon sent a letter to officials explaining that as a result of the Beit Shean Magistrate Court’s decision, the community cannot bury anyone in the local cemetery.
Yinon explains his client, the religious council, will of course abide by the court’s ruling but wishes to point out that until the measuring of the area in question is complete, they are unable to bury anyone in the cemetery, which is included in the area cited in the court ruling. Hence he is asking to exclude burial services from the court’s order since the latter is an essential service.
