Police Investigation Continues into Murders of Taxi Drivers in Israel

Police have obtained a gag order on the ongoing investigation into the latest murder of a cab driver in the north, Yafim Weinstein, 54, a resident of Upper Nazareth. Less than two weeks ago, another northern area cabbie was murdered, Hamzi Hamzi, 48, from the Druse community of Beit Jon. YWN-Israel reported on Sunday that Weinstein’s lifeless body was found in his cab, near Migdal Ha’emek.

The body was discovered by a passerby, at about 3:00am, and police were summoned. The Nazareth Magistrate’s Court on Monday complied with a police request to issue a gag order on the investigation, with police stating they are not ruling out a serial killer or terrorism at this time. They add that it is still too early to state conclusively if the two murders of taxi drivers are related.

The gag order prevents releasing any additional details pertaining to the case.
