Confrontation Between Residents & Civil Administration Inspectors

The scene on Tuesday morning was one of confrontation between residents of Kiryat Arba, Revava, Shavei Shomron and agents of the IDF Civil Administration, who arrived to present additional stop-construction orders in compliance with the government’s 10-month construction freeze. The government agents were compelled to leave without completing their mission.

Agents who were planning to present stop-construction orders in Har Gilo did not do so after learning activists were waiting, intending to prevent them from issuing the government order.

Right-wing activist Baruch Marzel questioned why the government does to attempt delivering stop-construction orders in the Israeli Arab municipality of Um el-Fahm, where illegal construction is rampant, where the Supreme Court must order police to protect Jews who wish to display an Israeli flag, despite the municipality being an integral part of the State of Israel and its residents Israeli Arab citizens. Marzel called the government policy “racist” and “unacceptable”, praising Tuesday morning’s confrontation with Civil Administration agents.

It is clear the battle has begun and Civil Administration officials may expect resistance in many communities, as the leaders and residents of the communities throughout Yehuda and Shomron struggle for their very existence.
