The Jerusalem District Court sentenced David Ohr Shachar of Bat Ayin to ten months’ imprisonment after he was convicted of assaulting Arabs and Arab-property in racially motivated attacks.
The indictment referred to an incident on October 31, 2013 near the entrance of Bat Ayin when the defendant and two others, who were masked attacked an Arab man. Following the attack, the three fled into the yishuv. One of them ran into a home and changed clothing and David and the third man ran to a shul and hid.
In another case they targeted a truck belonging to an Arab and in a third case, David and his partners cut olive trees belonging to Arabs.
The defendant admitted to the attacks. The court also imposed a fine of NIS 5,000 in the first case. That money was paid to the victim. David will report to prison to being serving his sentence on Sunday 13 Sivan.
