A 60-year-old woman was killed when her vehicle crashed into camels on Route 2357 near Kibbutz Chatzeirim. MDA was compelled to pronounce her dead on the scene.

The accident occurred on Sunday night 21 Iyar near the kibbutz when the woman struck a number of camels on Rt. 2357 traveling from Beersheva to Chatzeirim. The woman was in cardiac arrest when Magen David Adom arrived on the scene. she was pronounced dead on the scene.

Paramedic Carmel Cohen explains “the woman’s vehicle struck three camels near trees. The vehicle was crushed and the driver was trapped in the driver’s seat, in cardiac arrest. We tried to treat her but ultimately we had no choice other than to pronounce her dead on the scene”.

Veterinary Service personnel and Green Patrol inspectors arrived on the scene in an effort to assist in tracking down the owner of the camels.

According to the National Road Safety Authority, as of early Monday morning the number of people killed on the nation’s roadways since January 1, 2016 has reached 136 as compared to 152 at the same time last year and 114 in 2014.
