As it becomes apparent that a prisoner exchange deal is in the works, Mr. Noam Shalit on Monday sent a message to Maran HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita, asking the gadol hador to daven for Gilad ben Aviva.

During recent months, Mr. Shalit has found himself inside the chareidi world on numerous occasions, meeting with gedolim and admorim, seeking advice and asking for tefillos. Mr. Shalit is also concerned regarding some reports that there are prominent rabbonim opposed to the release of hundreds of murderers to bring Gilad home.

Today, Shalit used the channels that he developed to get a message to Rav Elyashiv, asking that the gadol hador permit and promote tefillos on Gilad’s behalf, in the coming days as a deal may actually be in the final stages, to daven that all the stumbling blocks be removed so his son can return home.

A message from the Gadol Hador instructing yeshivos to increase tefillos on behalf of Gilad during these critical days is expected to be released in the coming hours, a number of chareidi media agencies in Eretz Yisrael report.
