Online auction giant eBay apologized Sunday for a daylong glitch that inactivated the search function on its Web site, and said it will compensate sellers for their losses.
When shoppers searched for an item Saturday, the site returned limited or no results.
Some shoppers found a blank page; some received a message that said, “We were unable to run the search results you entered. Please try again in a few minutes.”
The company said it had resolved the problems by Sunday.
“We are happy to report that critical search functionality was restored overnight on Saturday, and we are seeing normal activity levels today,” eBay Marketplace Operations President Lorrie Norrington said Sunday in a statement.
The company’s Web site offered various scenarios under which sellers could be compensated, including those with auctions that ended Saturday.

Im just waiting for someone to say this was a terrorist act
tina, if the media is reluctant to call it terrorism when everyone knows it is (Ft. Hood a few weeks ago, one of the mainstream outlets delayed saying the guy’s name until it was absolutely confirmed), they certainly won’t call it terrorism when people are not sure.

To me that ft hood shooting sounded like a hate crime – sort of a Barouch Goldstein type event. I am not so fast to call that terrorism. Every time Peloni Almoni goes on a shooting spree – it does not mean there is some kind of a link to an organized group with a clear political goal – just my opinion –
i thought something was wrong with my computer, thank you yw now i know it was a glitch on ebays side
