In a move that will hopefully result in creating many jobs for women in the chareidi sector, Interior Minister Eli Yishai on Thursday is expected to annex 1,000 dunams (250 acres) of land to Rechasim towards the construction of hundreds of housing units and an industrial park in the northern community. The industrial park is planned to provide jobs for chareidi women.
The 1,000 dumans allocated to Rechasim will be taken from the Zevulun Council. The declaration will result in the ministry’s committee to meet and formally approve the move and redo maps to indicate the change. It appears the move is the result of an agreement between the two councils, based on a land exchange formula.
Yishai actually wants to allocate an additional 500 dunams, for housing and the construction of public buildings.
