According to the Lebanese daily A-Nahar, quoting an anonymous official defense establishment source, Lebanon is preparing for an Israeli attack, an attack that unlike in the past, will not focus only on areas of the southern portion of the country.
The report seems to stem from the recent apprehension of the Francop, the weapons laden freighter believed heading from Iran to Hizbullah which was intercepted by Israeli naval commandos. The report indicates that Israeli is well-aware that Hizbullah is unrelenting in its effort to arm itself with advanced weaponry in preparation for the next conflict with Israel.
Responding to the report was British Ambassador to Lebanon Frances Guy, who stated she feels the media is always seeking to stir things up, calling the situation “most unfortunate”, adding she is unaware of any credible information pointing to a planned Israeli offensive.
