Policeman Aims His Weapon at an Unarmed Chareidi Protester

g[VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE]

Protests by members and supporters of the Yerushalmi faction continued as the talmid yeshiva arrested for failing to register for military service remains in IDF Prison 4. However, something changed on Sunday evening during one of the protests.

Dozens of protesters went into the street in the area of Derech Bar-Lev in northern Yerushalayim and blocked vehicular traffic. Police arrived on the scene and quickly moved the chareidim from the street back to the sidewalk.

According to participants in the protest, police used unjustifiable force as they beat protesters indiscriminately. Police report one person was taken into custody.

What police did not report was captured by someone videoing the event as correspondent Yair Shariki reported a border policeman pulled his pistol and aimed it at unarmed protesters, as seen in the accompanying video.

Participants in the protest told Channel 1 News that police were “brutal” and they were “totally out of control”

  1. The protesters, besides ignoring Halachos of Choshen Mishpat by damaging property, endanger lives by throwing objects (rocks, etc.) at moving vehicles, and lighting fires that can easily get out of control, etc. Since they are not just ‘walking peacefully in protest’, force is legitimate in stopping them.

  2. If the gun would have been brandished to an Arab the police man would be sitting in jail now. Just another explanation on how the state of Israel does look like Germany of 1930

  3. is he pointing it at anyone in particular or did he pull it and wave it around? no idea what department policy for unholstering a gun is if was justified or not. 14 second clip doesnt tell you anything other than there was chaos for 14 seconds. what happened in the minutes prior or subsequent to these 14 seconds?
