Mark Alpert z”l was the victim of a tragic death r”l when he went to dispose of garbage on Friday, at a site in the Yachin Center in Petach Tikvah.

It appears that Alpert was employed as a maintenance worker in the shopping center and he was caught in the large trash compactor as he tried disposing of garbage. He was tragically pulled into the compactor. Hatzolah and EMS officials responded and were left with no alternative but to pronounce him dead on the scene.

State officials stated the death was tragic and “totally avoidable,” ordering an investigation.

The incident was reported in a number of places with the daily HaMevaser describing the niftar as a 24-year-old former convert who became a Chabad chossid.
