Chareidi Couple Arrested on Shabbos in Connection With Woman’s Disappearance

arrest5.jpgA chareidi couple was taken into police custody shortly after midnight on shabbos. Police arrived at the home of the couple, which resides in the Shichun Chabad area of Lod, suspected of neglecting a 70-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s, contributing to her disappearance on Friday.

The two were taken in a police car to a police station, having to arrange for a neighbor to remain with the small children, compelled to enter the police car on shabbos by the determined policemen.

The startled couple explained to police that their cleaning woman brought the elderly lady along with her and after she disappeared, she fabricated a story involving them to distance herself from responsibility.

The couple told police the cleaning woman, in her 40s, has been working for them for a period of time and they never experienced problems. They added that on Friday, she appeared with the elderly woman, explaining she was responsible to watch her. When it was realized that the woman was missing, the domestic feared being held responsible and she filed a report with police and indicated the couple was responsible for her disappearance.

While the wife was being questioned, police learned the elderly woman was found kilometers from the couple’s home, leading police to release them. The couple left the police station and walked home.

  1. I thought I was reading the secular news for a moment – if this is the headline you use; don’t be surprised when the story “in twisted version” appears all over YNet by the end of the day.

  2. More harassment of ehrliche Yidden by the police force of the medine. Again, Jews get arrested for something one goy did to another – and in Eretz Yisroel at that.
