The Hapoel Beersheva soccer team is scheduled to play Maccabi Haifa this Shabbos in Beersheva in a championship match.

Since the beginning of the season the team has not played on Shabbos at the behest of Beersheva Chief Rabbi Yehuda Deri Shlita, but now, the championship match is scheduled for Shabbos.

Rav Deri has turned to the team’s management to avoid the game on Shabbos but they explained the decision is not theirs but the soccer league.

Rav Deri contacted the soccer league head, Ofir Eini, requesting to change the game to avoid chilul Shabbos.
